Family Lawyer Magazine recently learned that Ken Lester is in need of a kidney transplant. Please consider donating a kidney to him. Read here for details.
Donate a Kidney: Give a gift of life
We hope you will consider the extraordinary act of donating your kidney and complete the donor form. And we hope one of you will be a match for what Ken needs. Thank you for reading this and please pass it on.
A message from Ken Lester
As you know, Nell and I are searching for a live kidney donor for me, as I continue to battle chronic kidney disease. While many have stepped up to test, we have yet to find a qualified donor. Thankfully, however, I have received lots of support both here in SC and across the country.
I am now on the kidney transplant list of the Cleveland Clinic and the Medical University of South Carolina. My preference is to the Cleveland Clinic as they are ranked number-two in the United States.
In order to be considered by MUSC, you will need to complete a donor information worksheet, which I am happy to email to you. You can also find the form at http://aaml.org/sites/default/files/new_MUSC_Donor_info.pdf. Once completed it should be faxed to (843) 876-2968.
If you choose the Cleveland Clinic, you must call the Living Donor office at (216)445-315. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm. When you call, please advise the person answering the phone that you are calling as a potential live donor for Kenneth H. Lester. You will need to also advise them of my birthdate (4/4/41) so that they can link you with me in their system. When you call, the Clinic will take you through the initial process over the phone. If you qualify, the Clinic will explain the testing procedure which will start with initial blood work and testing in your local area, and with final testing in Cleveland. Your transportation costs will either be covered by our insurance provider or by me personally.
Should you have any questions, please call me directly at my office (803) 454-3991 or on my cell (803) 446-7882. You are also welcome to email me questions at Ken@KenHLester.com.
Thank you for considering making the gift of life. For those of you who are unable to register as a live donor, please keep my family and me in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

Good to hear, Ken. Take care of yourself and your donor’s kidney. May you both be healthy for a long time.
