The use of technology among family lawyers and other family law professionals is on the rise as more and more firms employ new mobile apps and software to meet new challenges in their practices. Technological advancement is rapid, and today, it’s not hard to find software to assist with – or even do! – some of the more tedious, repetitive parts of the job. The technology revolution has digitized case law and automated operations in the sector. Professional law technology today uses different mobile apps and software, including Slack, Clio, FastCase, Zapier, and Evernote, among others. The transition has enhanced easy accessibility to high-quality law services at lower costs. Here are some mobile apps and software to consider.
Mobile Apps and Software – from B to Z
B is for “Box” (and Dropbox, too!)
The apps are popular among some attorneys for managing and sharing large legal documents. There is a high level of security and reliability when using the apps; hence, sensitive files and information are easy to keep. Integration is, however, limited, and the apps cannot interlink with other apps for family law practice.
Clio
Clio is a cloud-based, user-friendly management app that all lawyers can adopt regardless of their technological knowledge. The software is on high demand as it provides an online platform where lawyers can meet clients and offer adequate customer services. Less time is needed to handle legal issues aggressively and enjoyably. In legal practice management, law firms can securely access client data with no time and location limits. Lawyers can use Clio to track time, analyze clients, and acquire new contacts. The information on storable and retrievable from the app is comprehensive and straightforward that lawyers save time on legal matters. The app also integrates with other legal apps to enhance the sharing of information.
FastCase
The app has an extensive database that acts as a law library and is available for both Android and iOS users. In America, statutes exist for all the states, and lawyers can search for collections, keywords, and citations using FastCase. The app uses simple clicks to perform quick navigations to different cases, depending on the relevance. There is a free version of the app with an option of full subscriptions under premium accounts. “The platform is excellent when doing last-minute research on legal matters, as it brings the entire law library into quick access,” says Monica Winston, Legal Researcher at Writing Formats. FastCase integrates with other apps like Clio, which helps lawyers to maintain accuracy and timelines in complex cases.
Evernote
Evernote is a note-taking app that lawyers can harness to keep their notes, while annotating documents, saving articles and materials, as well as syncing devices. The entire process allows easy access to records without time and location limits. The app enables lawyers to classify their notes into different notebooks. The notes can be varied with contents like emails, text messages, images, documents, and online components. It is also possible to organize notes with tags rather than relying on notebooks when using the application. The app integrates with a smartphone camera to capture and edit images as the user desires. It is also compatible with apps like Clio to allow easy access and sharing.
Slack
The Slack application enhances legal research and communication within law firms. Internal communication becomes smooth and reliable, as the app uses an extensive chat database to interlink information flow. Lawyers can enjoy individual and group messaging with coworkers in a one-time platform that comes with Slack. The app allows the creation of channels where particular groups or departments can easily share their views. Slack exhibits compatibility with other apps like Zapier to simplify legal research and lower the associated costs.
And Z is for “Zapier”
Zapier provides an excellent firm-changing platform that connects with other apps to incorporate practice management in the law profession. The link reduces workload for lawyers, as they can use one app to interconnect all the favorite apps and perform simpler management in an integrated manner. “The use of zaps has automated activities between vital apps, and the process saves ample time on repetitive tasks,” says Jason Miller, a commercial lawyer at ConfidentWriters. Lawyers can save time and develop professionalism in their careers.
In summary, new mobile apps and software have reduced and simplified work for modern law firms – and that trend shows no sign of slowing any time soon. Lawyers can access law libraries and link to clients and coworkers to make their law practice more efficient and secure. The apps and software are designed to be secure (even though we know that in reality, nothing on the Internet is ever 100% secure) for safeguarding and exchanging sensitive client data, and many applications come with integration and compatibility characteristics that improve practice management.
