Dan Couvrette and Martha Chan are the husband-and-wife team owners of Family Lawyer Magazine, Divorce Magazine, and Divorce Marketing Group.
Dan Couvrette is Family Lawyer Magazine’s and Divorce Magazine’s CEO and Publisher. He has been a publisher for more than 40 years; he has co-founded and published a variety of magazines over the course of his career. Dan co-founded Ottawa Magazine in 1979, was the associate publisher and a partner in Wedding Bells Magazine from 1980 to 1984, co-founded Divorce Magazine in 1995, and founded Family Lawyer Magazine in 2012.
With more than 23 years of experience helping family lawyers and other divorce industry professionals to grow their practices, there is no one who understands the needs of these professionals better than Dan.
Martha Chan (MBA) She has been the V.P. of Marketing for Divorce Marketing Group’s list of publications and websites – including Family Lawyer Magazine, Divorce Magazine, and DivorcedMoms.com – for 15 years. She has been a professional marketer, speaker, and educator for 40 years, and has given marketing presentations at conferences attended by family lawyers and divorce financial analysts from the U.S., Canada, and internationally. Prior to joining the company full-time, she owned her own marketing agency working for mainly banks and fortune 500 companies, including American Express, Home Shopping Channel, Carlson Marketing Group/Amia, and Esso. As the Director of Strategic Planning and Development at American Express, she was responsible for their insurance portfolio, new product development, and the marketing of four of their charge cards: Gold, Green, Company, and Corporate Cards.
Diana Shepherd (CDFA®) is Family Lawyer Magazine’s and Divorce Magazine’s Editorial Director. Diana co-founded Divorce Magazine after becoming engaged to a divorced man with three young children opened her eyes to near-complete lack of information and support for those experiencing separation, divorce, and remarriage. She has more than 30 years of experience as a professional writer/editor – including as Managing Editor of Wedding Bells Magazine and Quill & Quire (a magazine about the book and publishing industry).
Diana spent seven years as the Marketing Director for the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, an international organization dedicated to the certification, education, and promotion of the use of financial professionals in the divorce arena. She has been a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® since 2007.
